Help! We've got cabin fever!!

Peyton hates the snow. He wouldn't even touch it. Guess it's a good thing we don't live in Kansas anymore. It's only 9:30 and we're going crazy!! Brad had to go to work...Peyton's out of school and I have no choice in the whole matter. Someone help us!!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

It's only 6:45 am a nd it's snowing like crazy. We're under a winter storm warning until 6:00pm so it's only going to get worse! Stay tuned for pictures of Peyton playing in the snow!

Let it snow!

Tonight they're predicting Hattiesburg to receive up to 3 inches of snow! Not much to our Northern friends, but to us in South Mississippi it's enough. And it probably only means there will be no school tomorrow...grrr. I just came in from checking the mail and the people driving down our street were acting like they were on ice...it's 48 degrees out people...relax. Hopefully it won't be too bad tomorrow and Peyton can still go to school...we're about to kill each other from being stuck in the house all week with his sickness....and I really need to work out. I'm working on getting some video uploaded....I'm having a hard time though so be patient. Wish us luck as we ride out this Winter Storm Watch!! ( it just occurred to me that I might live in the arm pit of America...we have hurricanes, tornadoes and now snow?!!! Whats up with that?)

The Sprinkle Stinker

It's been a really long month for us. Peyton has been fighting a cold since Halloween and over the weekend it turned ugly. Today he is FINALLY on antibiotics after another visit to the Dr. and a phone call this morning. I mean really....after a month of snot and a night of fever, isn't it called something other than "just a cold"? So this afternoon his spirits are back up and he seems to be feeling better...even though he still has a fever. So since he's been sick for so long, I didn't think twice about letting him have the sprinkles he found in the pantry this morning. Who can tell a sweet snotty 2 year old no when he says "Mommy...fease." (in his most pitiful voice ever...he's already working angles.) I put the sprinkles in a bowl and set him up with a movie. About 10 minutes later he comes running into the living room. I immediately look at him and know this isn't going to be good. This is what I saw.....

Needless to say the sprinkles were EVERYWHERE....my blanket on my bed was officially green and I've nicknamed him Grinch for the day. After I caught him totally covered in sprinkles, he ran to the pantry and wanted more!! Seriously?!! I don't think so.

On Sunday we decided to give Peyton his Christmas presents since we will be going non stop for the next 3 weekends. We got him a Little Tykes bounce house. To say he LOVES it would be an understatement. He even made Pepper get in with him. She liked it surprisingly.

Brad's parents came down for the weekend and on Saturday night we went to Mobile to see the lights at Bellengrath Gardens. It was cold and crowded, but beautiful. We've decided it would be prettier in the spring though. Don't we look ridiculous?
So now we're just praying that Peyton gets well in the next few days. This weekend he is staying with Maw and Paw so that Brad and I can go to Dallas and watch the Cowboys play the Giants. We're so excited!! Hopefully the weather will cooperate as well...I just heard on local news that tomorrow and Thursday we could get wintry precipitation here in South Mississippi. You know you're in the south with one day it's 75 degrees (today) and the next it's snowing!!! Merry Christmas Y'all!!!

Our Little Turkey

We have officially attended our child's first school production...in which he did not participate. ha! Today didn't go quite as we thought, but it was still fabulous. Thankfully the teachers had video taped our kids singing their Thanksgiving songs and played it for us in the lobby....good for us, bad for you!! When we got to Peyton's classroom, we totally expected him to come running for us. Nope. My kid was the only one yelling at his parents. He wanted nothing to do with us or anyone else in that classroom for that matter. Most of the kids stood in front of the class and sang their song....my kid sat at his table and drank juice. It wasn't until his teacher Mrs. DeeDee started telling us about how they made butter that morning that he perked up. Once he had a cornbread muffin with homemade butter in front of him, he was perfectly fine. I'm still shocked that all the kids helped make muffins and butter today. I love his school. After snack time he showed us his turkey he painted and his "helper" bee on the wall. Everyday they have a special helper...I guess your bug gets put at the top if you're it! Anyways, here are a few pictures from the day....I have video, but have not loaded it yet. I'll try to do it a.s.a.p. even though it's just video of Peyton drinking juice! Enjoy.

Peyton was very proud of this turkey he painted with his hands and feet.
My baby LOVES him some cornbread.
This is his class...his teachers are Mrs. Amy (wearing the teal shirt) and Mrs. DeeDee (wearing the brown sweater). Please notice the child in the blue and red shirt in front of Peyton..he's the one that pulled his hair out. (his parents apologized)
Chowing down on the muffin
They made these precious Thanksgiving place mats, too. I can't wait to use it for our family Thanksgiving dinner.

Promised Pictures

It was super cold this weekend, but that didn't stop the little man from playing with Dad!
Playing hide-n-go-seek
He LOVES his swing!
My son...already breaking fashion boundaries...nothing says "cool" like a diaper and UGGs.
All tuckered out from playing so hard
Nothing new to post really...all is good in our little world! This weekend kicks off what we like to call "holiday insanity". Can't wait!! Wednesday Peyton has his first ever school production. We're so excited! His preschool class will be singing songs for their parents and then we'll have a Thanksgiving snack. I'll be anxious to see if he actually sings though! Uh oh...something just crashed in the living room..I hope it wasn't the Christmas tree! Stay warm and be looking for video on Wednesday!

OUTRAGE!!

Ok in the last 2 weeks I have come across more than one thing that has just absolutely flabbergasted me....but this tops my list!! What is happening to our world!! On Foxnews.com there is an article about an ad that will be displayed on Washington D.C buses. This is what the ad says..."Why believe in God? Just be good for goodness sakes." Ok...at first glance I wasn't THAT put off by it....I mean really, why can't we be good just to be good? But once I started reading the article I became more infuriated. Here is a small part of that article:

In lifting lyrics from "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," the Washington-based group is wading into what has become a perennial debate over commercialism, religion in the public square and the meaning of Christmas.
"We are trying to reach our audience, and sometimes in order to reach an audience, everybody has to hear you," said Fred Edwords, spokesman for the humanist group. "Our reason for doing it during the holidays is there are an awful lot of agnostics, atheists and other types of non-theists who feel a little alone during the holidays because of its association with traditional religion."

They feel a little alone during the holidays because of CHRISTmas' association with traditional religion? HELLO!! You would have NO Christmas if it wasn't for religion?!!! I just honestly can't believe that there are people out there who really think this way? All I've been hearing on the news since the election is comments about how it's so wrong for people to be hateful....how is this NOT being hateful? You're trying to take a RELIGIOUS holiday and turn it into nothing but Santa Claus and elves and those of us who know the true meaning of Christmas have to look at these ads and say nothing because we would be discriminating to those who don't believe. I'll have to do my research to find out how we went from Christmas being about the birth of Christ to Santa and his reindeer, but I am confident that Christmas is the celebration of Christ's birth....period. Christ came first...before Santa people. Wow..I'm just really shocked. Maybe I've been living in a bubble. Ok, If you want to read the whole article, please click here: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,450445,00.html

Sorry for taking this time out of my Peyton updates to do a little ranting...sometimes I just can't help myself. And if I offended you...sorry, but it's my blog and I can write what I want. :-)
I promise next post will be lots of fun pictures of the little dude.

A Christmas Challenge

Every year I try to think of ways to help someone in need at Christmas. This year I've found a new cause. St. Jude's Children Hospital. For the past year I have been ordering my checks through their website...the cutest checks you've ever seen. Part of the proceeds obviously go to St. Jude Research...the checks cost no more than the ones you would order at your bank, so I figured why not also contribute to a good cause. So as I was online ordering more checks, I saw that Target helps create a wish list for the children and their families that are receiving treatment at St. Jude. It's just like buying a wedding gift or baby shower gift online. So here is my challenge to you.....if you are able, check out the website and buy one gift for a child who will be spending their Christmas in a hospital. Some of these children know no other home other than St. Jude....I can't even imagine. I thank God everyday that we have a healthy, thriving 2 year old.....so while I count my blessings maybe I can give back a little. If you're not able to buy a gift...you can always donate directly to St. Jude...even if it's $1....every little bit helps. Here is the website for the Target St. Jude Wish List: http://www.target.com/lists/20RM31U68HOE
If you'd like to donate directly to St. Jude, click here: www.stjude.org Then click on Donate Now at the top of the page. Browse the page while you're there...they actually have some really cool stuff you can buy!! Merry Christmas...a few weeks early! :-)

Ok I was going to try to write a great story with these pictures, but Peyton is in rare form. So I'll just leave you with pictures. They pretty much speak for themselves...Trick or treating and leaf pouncing...what more could a little boy ask for?!!

Things that are bugging me

Ok so this is a super random post, but I feel the need to vent. Two things are bothering me today.
Number 1: Does anyone else hate the corn fructose commercials as much as me? Are they kidding? "it's ok in moderation". I get that the corn farmers need their $$$, but how about a commercial for some corn on the cob. I've eaten sweet corn on the cob from Kansas and it's better than any Popsicle I've had!! Just saying.
Number 2: If you watch any t.v. at all you've probably seen all the news about the tragic death of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew. I can't even imagine how horrifying that would be. What I find interesting about the media, though, is that no one is pointing out the fact that her sister married a convicted murderer...or I guess I should say he was put away for attempted murder...same thing. Seriously?!! I can never say what I would do in someone else's shoes, but when it comes to my son, I could NEVER deliberately marry someone who was put in jail for trying to murder someone. Not saying that this is her fault because he should have been put back in jail for parole violations months ago. I guess my message is: TAKE CARE OF YOUR KIDS FIRST!!! They can't make decisions like that for themselves. Ok I'm done venting. Don't forget to vote in one week!!

It's winter in South Mississippi

For the 2 years we lived in Wichita, all we did was complain about the cold weather. When the opportunity came up for us to move to South Mississippi, it was a no brainer! Warm weather, an hour to the beach...who could ask for more? Thats not really the picture being painted here today. It's SO COLD! I have to say that I do love it...only because I know that in 2 days, it'll be 70 degrees again. Last year I think I can count on one hand the days or nights it was below 40 degrees. Last night it reached 35 and it's expected to stay in the 30's for the next 2 nights. This only figures because Sunday I put out my mums and planted huge ferns in my giant pots on the porch. The same happened last year...I planted beautiful palms in my pots and like a week later it froze...we weren't home to cover the plants and well...you can see where this story is going. They're in plant heaven. I'm determined to keep these alive though. Yesterday Peyton's swing set got finished...yea!! Of course NOW it's finished...it was only like 40 degrees yesterday evening. But you know he dragged me out there so he could "kide". His poor little nose was cherry red and he was covered head to toe in dirt. Lets just say I was not even a little prepared for cold weather...he has no hat and no mittens. It's on my agenda today. Pepper is LOVING this cold weather. She is the only family member that actually enjoyed Wichita. Her favorite pastime was jumping head first in the snow. She should have been a Golden Retriever. Yesterday she ran like 10 laps in the backyard..I guess the coldness makes her frisky. So all that leads us back to this morning. I put Peyton in his oh so cute Polo jeans and his race car sweater that I thought he'd never get to wear. He was SO handsome...still not happy about going to school...but he looked good. So thats the moral of the day....wherever you are..cold or warm...you gotta look good!

Cheesin it up for Mommy
This was hilarious....my car was making smoke b/c of the cold and Peyton was blowing at it saying "hot"
He totally posed this himself
He lured Daddy out to slide with him

Pumpkin Patch: Part II

Last weekend Nana and Pop came down to visit. We did what we do with all of our visitors in the fall...we took them to the Pumpkin Patch!! We had a great time and as the weekend winded down, we really fussed at ourselves for not taking the time to go to New Orleans for a day. We had planned on taking Peyton down this weekend to go to the Aquarium, but this weekend started the Voodoo Music Festival down there..I think I'll pass. We always forget about taking guests to New Orleans for a day trip...it's only about an hour and half from our house..so it's fairly close. I guess we never think about it because we never actually go. For the last 3 years New Orleans has been a place we avoided, but I hear now that it's clean and actually more enjoyable than ever. So we'll save that adventure for another weekend. Here are a few pictures from our super fun weekend with Nana and Pop. For some reason, a lot of my pictures came out WAY too bright...hopefully Nana and Pop's are better! Enjoy!

It's potty time!!

Ok this is just a quick F.Y.I. Peyton pottied in the big boy potty today!! Total fluke I'm sure, but at least we're one step closer. And at least he now realizes it's ok for him to go there. He's always really scared to sit on the potty, but today he was squealing and jumping after he did it. Priceless!!!

Oh my gosh!! We have video!

So I realized last night that its been 100 years since we posted video. So for your viewing enjoyment, here is a video of Peyton "dancing" last night. I have NO idea what came over him. We were standing there talking and then all of a sudden he broke into dance...with no music!! I think he must get his dancing skills from his dad.....or maybe his Uncle D. Please notice his beautiful outfit as well....I don't know why he's always missing clothes! oh well. Enjoy!

Hey...you're lucky...we're bowling tonight!

For all you movie buffs.....name the movie that line came from!!!

This last weekend was a crazy one. Our friends from Georgia came in for a visit with their 2 kids....yes that makes 3 kids and 4 adults in my house!! yikes! We had a good time...Peyton got a little out of hand occasionally, but that was to be expected. We painted pumpkins Friday and the kids totally enjoyed that. Peyton was in hog heaven. Then Saturday night we all went bowling. Peyton LOVED it! We were worried that we'd be waisting money on shoes and a game for him, but we thought now was as good a time as any. He was SO good while we bowled and he was so excited when it was his turn. Occasionally he would take breaks and have some strawberries I brought for him, but mostly he was ready to throw his ball. And can you even believe they make bowling shoes for little people! They were so cute and he thought he was so big to have shoes just like daddy. It's definitely something we'll do again with him in the near future. He's finally getting to an age where we can take him to do things we like to do and he can have fun too. The highlight of the night, though, was when I, Lisa, for the first time EVER, beat Brad Hoefler bowling!!! Can I get a WOOHOO! I think it might be the highest score I've ever gotten....153. It was so awesome. Unfortunately, the following game I threw like 4 gutter balls, but at least I can say I've beat him once in my lifetime. Oh joy!! Today all the guests left and Peyton and I have totally been lounging. He passed out on the couch at about 11:00....2 hours before naptime! He was exhausted. So now I'll spend the next few days cleaning my house...again...preparing for the next round of guests!! Enjoy the pictures :-)

Peyton getting ready to bowl
Aren't they sweet
Rolling his ball
You can't tell but Peyton is screaming "go go go!"
Proof I'm the champion!
My little Picasso

What a work of art
He's really getting into it now
